An amazing opportunity popped up to shoot for a documentary project in Turkey. The country had never been on a travel list of mine, but as I started researching, I realized what a gem it is. We shot in Istanbul, then on my own I explored the small town Cappadocia. At some point I’d love to go back!
Winter is the perfect time to get away to the warm weather of Hawaii. I did some island hopping, visiting Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island. The trip consisted of many of hikes, epic beach camping, roaming chickens, stunning views, and lava flowing from the earth.
New Zealand + Australia (2017)
Ever since watching BTS for Lord of the Rings, I'd wanted to visit New Zealand. It took many years to finally get out there, but I was not disappointed by the natural beauty of the country. I was able to see Hobbiton, Weta Workship and a few other spots from the films. While nearby, Sydney was a must see as well.
Western USA (2016)
The western states are dramatically different than where I grew up in the midwest. Heading out there in the fall I was able to enjoy the sights of the Pacific Coast Highway I as drove from LA to San Francisco. I did some camping in Yosemite and Death Valley, then headed to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Quite epic scenery!
As I was researching my Europe trip I began to realize the natural beauty of Iceland. That prompted me go visit the island on my way back from Europe. Very little of the landscape has been tainted by man. It feels like a trip back to ancient times. The country boasts of natural hot springs, magnificent waterfalls, glaciers, and volcanos.
I'd always wanted to visit Europe and never found the time. I realized I would never go if I didn't plan it and just go ahead with the trip. It's easy to get distracted with life and work so we don't end up doing the things we enjoy. I took off to travel Europe for 45 days. It was quite an experience and these capture the places quite well. Locations: London, Wales, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome.
Working as 2nd Unit Cinematographer on a feature in 2012, I had the opportunity to travel to Ireland for the latter half of the film. We shot for ten days and when the movie wrapped, I explored the country on my own for a week.
It's been a lifelong process of traveling the US. I really haven't seen much of it until recently. These photos are taken throughout the years and in many different cities across the country.
